Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a prime spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and although visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling den, features 150 slots and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that highlights many comforts aside from the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight tables.
