Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are based in a generally small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime area, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau casino, highlights 150 slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel complex that features numerous luxuries on top of the casino, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 tables.
